Two hundred and fifty cherry trees, of both the Somei Yoshino and Yae-Zakura varieties, can be enjoyed in bloom during the early spring. The park is also a famous scenic viewpoint. Katsushika Hokusai, the famous Edo era ukiyo-e artist, depicted Mount Fuji as viewed from this spot for one of his woodblock prints in his series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.
